They say a picture speaks a thousand words, which couldn't be more true when it comes to your over 70's dating profile. Your profile will receive 80% more interest with a photo, than one without and you don't need to be Clark Gable or Marilyn Monroe either. With that said, here are a few tips to get you started...

1. Smile Please!

A smile is a gift that can be given away anytime, and it's free. If you profile has a photo, you are more likely to receive message from admirers if it come with a smile.

2. What About Location?

Your photo might look dark and gloomy, if taken in a dark room. It may look much better in a brightly lit room, or even outside, maybe just in the garden. Having a light source facing you will help hide a wrinkle or 2, not that you have any of course. Maybe mix things up a bit by having a photo or 2 of you doing something you enjoy, rambling, gardening, cooking or maybe ski jumping. Don't be afraid to be different.

3. Photo Composition

Try and keep your face in the centre of the photo. Some dating websites automatically crop photo's. You don't want your head chopping off. A good head and shoulders portrait might be best for your main photo.

4. Crowded Photo's

Some of your best photo's may also contain other people. Even though these photo's may be your best, it might be worth using one of you on your own as your main profile photo, just to save any confusion. Some of your favourite photo's may also contain ex, or perhaps late partners. Keep these somewhere safe, but maybe avoid using them in your dating profile, so save being asked awkward questions.

5. Visit A Photographer

Professional photo's are becoming increasingly popular on dating sites. If you're struggling to find the right photo to upload to your profile, you might consider having a photo taken by a professional photographer. Just a couple of snaps can be much cheaper than you imagine. Or even better, you might have a budding photographer in your family, phone around :)
